Starting on the baseboard

My dad and I made the frame for the baseboard. Made from 8 1.8m x 32mm x 19mm wood, cut to my design, and screwed together. The 2x 30cm ends are bolted to the main frame, so can be removed for future expansion. To add more rigidity a 6mm MDF board will be screwed on top.

All in all to get it to this stage it took about 3hours.

  1. Ed - I have recently found your blog. Interstingly I have been researching the Basingstoke & Alton with a view to making an EM gauge model of Bentworth & Lasham station. As a first step I have recently completed but not painted a model of the station building based on my own drawings. If you are interested and would like me to send you a scan of these please let me know. Kevin Desmond

    1. Hi Kevin,

I am very interested in your drawings for the station building. David (my dad) in fact has just made Cliddesden, we are very interested to see how they compare, i.e. any detail we may have missed, that you might have picked up - we don't have any views of the rear side of the station building. Please keep us posted about your layout. There will be a posting soon about our model station building.
      Thanks, Ed
